Serving the Watauga county area, Transitions is a Christ-centered support ministry that assists women trapped in addiction and feeling without hope. Transitions seeks to show them that hope is never lost and can be found in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. The ministry demonstrates this by providing the women with families and friends who desire to show Christ’s love to those struggling with addiction.
Transitions ministers in several ways:
- Watauga County Detention Center (WCDC) ministry: This outreach reaches incarcerated women at WCDC. It includes a Sunday morning message and prayer along with Tuesday morning Recovery and Re-entry classes. The ministry also provides inmates with personal spiritual mentoring through letter-writing.
- Genesis Process Change groups: This is a discipleship curriculum outreach for women who seek a change in lifestyle and desire accountability and support as they walk their new path. No cost, but purchasing a book is recommended
- Genesis Process Relapse Prevention Counseling: In partnership with the Genesis Process Change groups, this outreach provides a one-on-one counseling opportunity with a certified Genesis Process Relapse Counselor. The sessions have no cost, but purchasing a book is recommended.
- Additional Resources: Transitions provides resources and referrals through women’s faith-based recovery programs in multiple states, including NC. Transitions can also connect incarcerated women with court advocates.
Transitions is excited to launch a new upcoming outreach ministry called Family and Friends for Recovery. This ministry will bring support and encouragement to those walking alongside a loved one in addiction and will offer practical tools to aid them in the journey. A weekly meeting will be held at Alliance Bible Fellowship at no cost to the attendee. The meeting dates will be announced in 2017.
