Join us for MEN of COURAGE – Saturday Oct 12, 4:30 PM (no signup)
JESUS
-
A Jesus follower or disciple is someone who has belief in Jesus, His life, work, death, and resurrection. The first task of discipleship is evangelism: to call men to walk with Christ by grace through faith.
-
The second task of making disciples is teaching: to cultivate a love for Jesus that outshines any other light and to fully surrender to the Lordship of Christ in every area of life. When we disciple (train and equip) a man who professes Christ, he will become strengthened in faith, Godly in behavior, and sincere and winsome in witness. Personal spiritual disciplines for growth and renewal, such as Bible-reading and regular prayer, will be encouraged.
6:00-8:00pm | Room 300
This is a group of guys who work hard, love their families, and want to become more like Jesus Christ. We would love to have you join us as we explore scripture, pray for each other, and challenge one another!
6:30-7:30am | Depot Room
Have you been looking for an opportunity to grow closer to God? Join us as we dive deep into the scripture.
BROTHERS
The most meaningful change takes place in the context of relationships. Men are made for relationships. Shoulder to shoulder. Men tend to bond in shared experiences. You can see it in the way Jesus built a seemingly random group of strangers into a band of brothers ready to die for their cause.
● Intentional – Important relationships take work and time. They aren’t casual relationships with people we see every day in the office or in class. It might take three or four times inviting a guy to coffee or a church event before he finally agrees to go.
● Spiritual – Many of us have friends that we enjoy spending time with, playing golf or getting our kids together. But we may never talk with them about our walk with God or struggles. In a discipling relationship, you are giving another man the freedom to ask tough questions and hold you accountable.
● Friendship – Jesus’ disciples shared life together. They broke bread together. They enjoyed being around one another on a daily basis. Discipleship should be natural and not forced.
Small groups of 3-4 men or women committed to meeting together for a determined period of time to read, apply, and memorize Scripture. The goal is to see disciples making disciple-making disciples.

If we want to create a sustainable disciple-making culture in ABF men, we will focus our ministry resources, time, and energy on fostering intentional spiritual friendships. Our ministry must help men get started down the path of man bonding, small groups, friendships and events/activities to bring men together. This is how we help real men with real problems in a way that no program, curriculum, or strategy by itself can.
OTHERS
Every man wants to give his life to a cause, to make a difference, and to do something significant with his life. As we disciple a man, he will grow in his desire to make a difference for God’s glory: to bear much fruit and do good works that would remain (John 15:8, 16).
We must move men toward service and missions— sending men to work for Christ, to build His kingdom and bring Him glory. Once a man has been with Christ, experienced the joy of His grace, the warmth of His love, the cleansing of His forgiveness, and the indwelling of His Spirit, he inevitably comes to a point when he can no longer be happy unless he is serving the Lord. Our ministry must continually intersect needs of our ministry, our church and our world with our men’s desire to serve.
