Children’s Ministry Team

Partner with parents to show children the truth and love of Jesus. Here are ways you can serve in this ministry:

SUNDAY MORNING (Kidzone & Little Alliance)

I’m interested in serving on Sundays!
CHECK-IN GREETER
  • The individual is dependable, friendly, enthusiastic, creative, organized, able to work with other volunteers and relates well with parents and children.
  • Skill: Tech/Computers

Membership Not required
Length One school year (August-May)
Time 1.5 hours (every week)

NURSERY LEAD
  • Build relationships with new parents and families to affirm a sense of comfort and security.
  • Guide helpers in the classroom to ensure all children are cared for including diaper changes and feeding.
  • Stay in classroom at all times when children are under your supervision.

Membership Required
Length One school year (August-May)
Time 1.5 hours (every week)

NURSERY ASSISTANT
  • Create a warm, welcoming and safe environment for the children.
  • Ensure that children and parents have appropriate identification.
  • Help children acclimate to the classroom. Help children who may have anxiety when parents leave.

Membership Not required
Length One school year (August-May)
Time 1.5 hours (every week, every other week, or once per month)

LEAD TEACHER + SUBSTITUTE (PreK-2 thru 5th Grade)
  • 16 years or older or upon approval of the Children’s Ministry Director. Responsible for leading children and helpers each week with activities for each lesson.
  • The volunteer must be a mature Christian, with knowledge of Scripture and church history.
  • Must also be dependable, friendly, enthusiastic, creative, organized, able to work with other volunteers and relate well to children.

Membership Required
Length One school year (August-May)
Time 1.5 hours (every week, every other week, or once per month)

ASSISTANT + SUBSTITUTE (PreK-2 thru 5th Grade)
  • Shows progress towards becoming a mature Christian.
  • The individual is dependable, friendly, enthusiastic, creative, organized, able to work with other volunteers and relates well with parents and children.
  • Responsible for assisting and possibly taking over the lead role during a teacher’s absence.

Membership Regular Attendee
Length One school year (August-May)
Time 1.5 hours (every week, every other week, once per month, or as needed for subs)

LARGE GROUP LEADER
  • 16 years or older or upon approval of the Children’s Ministry Director.
  • The volunteer must be a mature Christian, with knowledge of Scripture and church history.
  • Must also be dependable, friendly, enthusiastic, creative, organized, able to work with other volunteers and relate well to children.
  • Responsible for leading the large group lesson every week.

Membership Required
Length One school year (August-May)
Time 1.5 hours (every week)

WORSHIP TEAM MEMBER
  • This volunteer position is for teens who enjoy being in front of a large group of children.
  • Have an active faith and regularly attend service each month.
  • Be committed and reliable–you must have a consistent schedule.
  • A willingness to sing, dance and speak in front of a group of children and adults.
  • Commit to practicing and participating the full service time each Sunday that you volunteer.

Membership Not required
Length One school year (August-May)
Time 1.5 hours (every week, every other week, or once per month)

SOUND SYSTEM TEAM MEMBER
  • This volunteer position is for teens who would like to use ProPresenter in a smaller environment.
  • Have an active faith and regularly attend service each month.
  • Be committed and reliable–you must have a consistent schedule.
  • A willingness to commit to practicing and participating the full service time each Sunday that you volunteer.

Membership Not required
Length One school year (August-May)
Time 1.5 hours (every week, every other week, or once per month)

ONE ON ONE SUPPORT HELPER
  • Have some experience with special needs children or a willingness to work alongside one of our experienced volunteers.
  • Have clear communication with families to brainstorm ideas and ways to help child engage as well as create a volunteer schedule based on the individual child.
  • Be available to help kindle peer relationships with others in the classroom.
  • Partner with the classroom lead teacher to alter or differentiate the instruction.

SUMMER PROGRAMMING

I’m interested in serving Wednesday mornings this summer!

We are gearing up for our summer program. Our vision for Missions Training Center or MTA is to immerse our kids in what it is like to prepare for the mission field by teaching them independent Bible study skills, sharing the Gospel, immersing in the country/culture they may move to, learning basic life skills and sustainable living that is helpful on the mission field. This year, we will be moving our program to every other Wednesday beginning June 2nd! Our hope is that this change will allow for more people to have availability to serve while still utilizing our student ministry leaders to counsel and build relationships with our kids.

Sustainable Living Trainers
  • 3 Wednesdays 10:00am-12:30pm
  • Responsible for preparing and teaching about growing food, building shelters, providing heat (fire), clean water, etc…
Snack
  • Wednesdays 2-3 hours per day.
  • Responsibilities vary.
Basics of Life
  • 3 Wednesdays from 10:00am-12:30pm
  • Responsible for preparing and teaching kids how to do basic skills to include but not limited to sewing/repairing clothes, changing tires, making simple foods, etc… 
Country/Culture
  • 3 Wednesdays 10:00am-12:30pm

  • Responsible for preparing and teaching about a culture you have lived in and provide information you would need to know before moving there.

Preschool Lead Teachers
  • Wednesdays

  • 8:30am-1pm

Area Directors
  • Wednesdays 8:30am-1pm

  • Responsible for directing their area of leadership.  Areas may include Student counselors and kids, registration, preschool, snack


Student Ministry Team

Partner with parents to encourage, teach and grow young people in their faith. Here are ways you can serve in this ministry:

Check-in Greeter (Wednesday Nights)
  • Set up and man check-in station during Wednesday Night gatherings.
  • Coordinate with student ministry leaders to ensure all students are checked in.
  • Greet and welcome families and students registering any new students.

Commitment: 1 year
Time: 1 hour per week

Small Group Leader/Co-leader (Wednesday Nights)
  • Lead a small group of 5-10 students.
  • Create a safe place for students to grow in their faith.
  • Help students take their next steps in their walk with Christ
  • Follow up with students outside of small group discussion time.
  • Partner with parents to invest spiritually in students.

Commitment: 1 year
Time: 2-4 hours per week

Home Group Leader/Co-leader (Sunday Nights)
  • Lead a small group of 5-10 students.
  • Create a safe place for students to grow in their faith.
  • Help students take their next steps in their walk with Christ
  • Follow up with students outside of home group discussion time.
  • Partner with parents to invest spiritually in students.

Commitment: 1 year
Time: 1-2 hours every other week

Student Leadership Program Track Leader (Sunday afternoons)
  • Lead a group of students in worship, missions, or event planning
  • Help coordinate and execute special projects and events each semester
  • Help teenagers to be influential in the life of other teenagers while also growing in their knowledge of and love for God.

Commitment: 1 year
Time: 2-4 hours a month, Meetings happen on the 3rd Sunday of each month


College Ministry Team

LARGE GROUP TEAM MEMBER
  • Attend College Connection weekly (Sundays 6:30PM)
  • Formally engage students during small group discussions.
  • Informally interact with students in a large group environment.

SMALL GROUP LEADER
  • Provide meeting space for a small group study.
  • Create an environment that nurtures community and trust.
  • Train, develop, and support a student leader.

FEMALE MENTOR
  • Meet with a college-age student weekly or bi-monthly.
  • Communicate regularly with student.
  • Encourage student to participate in the life of a local church.

  • Meet with a college-age student weekly or bi-monthly.
  • Attend occasional events with college-age men.

Help create a welcoming environment for people to encounter Jesus Christ at Alliance Bible Fellowship. Here are ways you can serve in this ministry:

COMMON GROUNDS
  • Prepare and serve coffee and Stick Boy pastries in the Commons; from either 9:00-10:30 or 10:30-11:30, or
  • Serve as “Welcomer” greeting and visiting with people in the Commons during the 2nd service.
NOTE: NOT OPERATING DURING COVID Commitment: One year (less if student or part-time resident) Time: 1-1.5 hours at least one Sunday per month
GREETER

Warmly welcome people as they enter the building at one of the exterior doors or on the sidewalks

Commitment: One year (less if student or part-time resident)

Time: At least one service one Sunday a month from 20 minutes before to 15 minutes after each service begins

TRAFFIC/PARKING

Direct people to safely park, assist those who need additional help or with special needs, and provide direction to the main entrance in the upper or lower parking lot

Commitment: One year (less if student or part-time resident)

Time: At least one service a month from 20 minutes before to 15 minutes after each service begins

WELCOME DESK

Welcome attendees by providing information about church ministries, activities, and resources in the Welcome Center, and help first-time guests navigate the building to get settled in for worship

USHER

Assist in greeting and seating in the Worship Center 

Commitment: One year (less if student or part-time resident)
