SCOTT ANDREWS
Senior Pastor
Scott, wife, Tana, and their six children, Stephen, Jonathan, Timothy, Olivia, Laura, and Andy moved to Boone in 1997. He is committed to seeing the Word of God transform the lives of God’s people at Alliance. His passion is to see Alliance be a kingdom church, where broken people find grace, healing, and forgiveness.

JOSH HAYES
College Pastor
Josh is a graduate of Appalachian State and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Josh and his wife Carrie met while in college. They have five children (Ryan, Scott, Josie, Caleb, and Micah). Josh enjoys hunting, golfing, fishing, and playing frisbee. He also considers coffee a vital food group. Josh loves teaching the Word of God and seeing people develop an appetite for Christ-centered teaching that leads to a transformed life.

CAMERON LLOYD
Youth and Family Pastor
Cameron Lloyd is a graduate of Liberty University and studies at Southern Seminary. Cameron joined the team at Alliance as an intern in 2017. He is passionate about family discipleship, seeing teens get excited about the gospel, and connecting the next generation to the mission of the church. Cameron and his wife, Hunter, have two children — Molly and Graham. On any given afternoon, you can find them strolling around one of Watauga’s great parks. Cameron likes to read, grow his beard, spy on deer, and shiver in a pair of perforated waders.

MIKE SHELLMAN
Outreach and Assimilation Pastor
Mike and his wife Cheryl moved to Boone in 2022 and have three married daughters and sons-in-law. Brittany & Brandon, Ben & Jessie, and Colby & Megan. And of course, Mike and Cheryl love to talk about their four grandchildren, Jackson, Jase, Tom, and Penny. Mike enjoys hunting and fly fishing, but most of all, spending time with Cheryl on their ATVs and hiking. Mike & Cheryl love the church and have a passion for serving the Lord.

MICHAEL TALLEY
Discipleship Pastor
Michael and his wife Laura moved to Boone in August of 2012. They have five children, Audrey, Emmy, Bailey, Abel, and Alisa. Michael graduated from Appalachian State and Gordon Conwell. He attended Alliance as a college student and now serves as the Discipleship Pastor. He loves helping God’s people grow in their love for God’s word. Michael loves to read, watch the Carolina Panthers, and serve the local church.

HUNTER COULTRAP
Worship Director
Hunter and his wife, Mary Lee, moved to Boone from Columbia, South Carolina in June of 2018. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Music Education. Hunter has a passion to lead God’s people in worship through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs of praise! Hunter likes photography, being a cheeseburger connoisseur, and cheering on the USC Gamecocks!

BOB DAVIDSON
Facilities Director
In January 2022, Bob and his wife Maryann moved from Cartersville, GA., to a cabin in Butler, TN. He enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors, hunting, and fly fishing. Bob is passionate about this role because he gets to use his expertise to maintain the church facilities for the glory of the Lord. He’s also very excited to meet his new grandchild in a few short months.

LIBBY DOWELL
Financial Manager
Libby graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in Finance, where she met and married her sweetheart, Tim. She and Tim have three children. She has been on staff with Alliance since 2001.

SHAWNA DUVALL
Women’s Ministry Director
Shawna moved to Boone in 2015 with her husband, Greg, and three amazing kids. A graduate of Texas A&M University and Wheaton College, her heart beats for teaching and training women to dig deep in God’s Word and experience the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Shawna loves a good conversation over coffee, running the local trails, cheering for her kids on the field, and partnering with her husband in marriage ministry.

HEATHER HAYES
Children’s Ministry Director
Heather and her family have been attending Alliance since 2006. She lives in Avery county with her husband, Kent and their two 2 sons Eli and Jonah. She has been involved in Children’s Ministry for over 2 decades and has a passion and love for preschool children and their families. She enjoys all sorts of outdoor activities with her family, watching movies, knitting, and living on a mountain with goats, chickens, ducks, and dogs.

KRISTA HOWARD
Office Manager
Krista is originally from Charlotte, NC, and moved to Boone in 2013. She and her husband Bill have three daughters, Rebekah, Ella, and Suzanna. She has served at Alliance since 2014. Her free time is spent being outside in the beautiful mountains and spending time with family and friends.

SETH KINGDON
Communications Manager
Seth came on staff in 2021 and oversees all aspects of internal and external communications. He graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2015 with a public relations and journalism degree and most recently worked at Appnet — a local website firm — managing SEO and writing content. He’s married to Meagan, a Special Education teacher at Blowing Rock Elementary and a faithful volunteer in Little Alliance. Seth enjoys hiking, reading, and eating donuts at Local Lion.

MITCHEL PACE
Middle School Director
In 2018, Mitchel moved to Boone from Hendersonville, NC, to work in youth ministry at a local church. In 2022, he married his wife Ali, an EC teacher at a local public school. Mitchel is a North Greenville University graduate and studies at Southeastern Seminary. Mitchel is passionate about family ministry and equipping teenagers to have gospel conversations with their friends and family. He enjoys dating his wife, attempting CrossFit, and eating Bella’s pizza.

CLAYTON THORNTON
AVL Director
Clayton and his wife Lyndsey and son Daniel moved to Boone in 2022 from Nashville, Tennessee. Clayton graduated from North Greenville University with a Broadcast Media degree, after having interned with Cirque du Soleil. His time in Nashville was spent largely on the road touring with music artists and doing event production around the world. Clayton is passionate about seeing equipment used intentionally and purposefully while maintaining a level of creativity. When not in the office, Clayton enjoys spending time with his family and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.

JACAN WARD
Worship and AVL Associate
Jacan Ward was born and raised in Avery County and started attending Alliance in 2020. He has been a touring/gigging musician and tech since 2018. Jacan is passionate about worshiping God through music and praising and growing our youth in their musical gifting to lead Worship. In his free time, he enjoys riding motorcycles and exploring the woods with friends and family.

LAURA WARDER
Adult Ministry Associate
Laura is a Boone native and grew up attending Alliance. She became a member in 2016 after graduating from Liberty University and met her husband, Ben while working at Samaritan’s Purse. Laura is currently working on a Master’s degree through Reformed Theological Seminary. She enjoys being outside, oatmilk lattes, good books, and spending time with family and friends.

Administrative Assistant
Kim moved to Boone in 2008 and enjoys mountain life with her husband Joe and 4 kids: Luke, Riley, Julia and Addie. She graduated from Calvin University with degrees in Communications and English. She loves words of any kind. Other things she loves include coffee, books, hiking, sports, and quality time with people.

KIMI BREWER
College Ministry Associate
Kimi and her husband, Terry, moved to Boone from Charlotte in July of 2020. They have been blessed with four children: Savannah, Luke, David, and Paul. Kimi graduated from the University of Florida. She is passionate about sharing the love of Jesus with college students. Kimi enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

JULIE HARTLEY
Mother’s Morning Out Coordinator
Julie is a graduate of Appalachian State University, where she met her husband, Kris. The “Boonerang Effect” brought them back to the High Country in 2012. They immediately became plugged into ABF through the life group and children’s ministry. Julie began working with Mom’s Morning Out as a teacher in 2019, and is passionate about the opportunity to connect with families through this ministry. She enjoys adventures with her husband and three kids (Knox, Noah, & Salem), and loves any excuse to get together with other moms!

ASHLEY KOSTRZYNSKI
Ministry Intern
Ashley was born in Ohio but has lived in Charlotte, NC, for most of her life. She is currently a Senior at App State and will graduate in May 2024 with a degree in Psychology with a Concentration in business and a minor in Non-Profit organization. She loves serving the church, connecting with people, and advancing God’s kingdom through relationships. Over the years, she has been able to serve in different ministry capacities working with different age levels. She has a passion for connecting with kids and youth to help make a lasting impact on the gospel. In her spare time, you can find her running, reading, or drinking coffee.

SAM SHUTTLEWORTH
College Intern
Sam was born in Florida, but has lived in Greensboro, NC, for most of his life. He graduated from App State in December 2022 with a degree in Recreation Management. He loves serving the church, connecting with people, and advancing God’s kingdom through mission work. Over the years, God has led him on multiple overseas mission trips to preach the Word and show the Lord’s love. He’s passionate about this internship because he can help empower college students to reach out in their own community and evangelize to their fellow students and neighbors. In his spare time, you can find him hiking, playing racquetball, or drinking coffee.

KIM SOUCEK
Administrative Assistant
Kim’s roots began in Elizabethton and Bristol, TN, before moving to L.A. (Lower Alabama), but made Boone and Alliance home in 1999 when she moved with YoungLife youth ministry. She graduated from the University of Alabama, earning a major in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. She’s passionate about serving the church because the church and church family have always been integral to her life. Her favorite activity is hiking/walking with friends and watching Alabama football on any given Saturday in the fall.
