Greetings Church!
You’re all wondering what’s going on with the mountain behind our lower parking lot, aren’t you? Our partner, Samaritan’s Purse, is building a Disaster Response Center at ABF. Currently, our church is the Response Center. We have given our space to house men’s dorms, women’s dorms, a dining area, a commercial cooking trailer, and the Samaritan’s Purse Operations Center all currently housed inside our building. That’s all about to change in the next 9 months to a year.
A design team made up of the ABF building committee, engineers of all types, several architects, contractors, and representatives from Samaritan’s Purse have been working for months with the local planning and zoning officials to design and build a Disaster Response Center on the back property to provide for their volunteers and Operations staff.
Beginning this week, the construction area will be fenced in for safety reasons. However, we will have access within the safety fence on Sunday mornings for the next few months as we take a mountain down. There will be over 3,300 truckloads of material being removed so there will be a lot of activity going on during the work week: a lot of truck traffic. Monday through Friday, please park in the upper parking lots only. Please stay on the sidewalks and be alert to the trucks! They cannot stop quickly! Tap here to learn more about how construction will affect parking at ABF.
We will open the back parking lot on Sunday mornings. For safety reasons when we open that area for parking, our parking team will show you specifically where you can park, how to access it, and how to get back out of it. Stay on top of the asphalt and do not go near any equipment that might be parked in the area. This will be a very fluid situation. We will provide updates to keep you informed.
We’re grateful our parking team is on top of this and will be guiding and leading each Sunday morning when you arrive. Please follow their guidance.
We asking you to do several things:
- First of all, pray for the safety of the contractors, their workers, and others who will be involved in this project over the next nine months to a year.
- Please be patient as you arrive. During the week, be considerate of the truck traffic and keep your children informed and safe using the upper parking lots only and please stay on the sidewalks and be alert!
- On weekdays, plan to arrive a little early due to the increased activity.
- Pray for our Parking Teams on Sundays. Pray for their safety.
The weather is changing, so please pray for safety during weather events and watch for updates. This is an incredible opportunity for us to impact our community and the surrounding region with the Hope of Jesus Christ.
In His grip…
